Our One-Year Warranty — What It Means and What It Covers
We stand behind every job we complete. No fine print. No runaround.
Every job completed by Prairie Surface Co is backed by a full one-year warranty from the date of service. If something goes wrong with our work under normal conditions, we come back and we fix it — at no cost to you. That is not a marketing line. It is a commitment we put in writing on every invoice.
What's Covered
- Peeling, flaking, or delamination of the sealcoat from the asphalt surface
- Premature surface failure under normal residential driveway use conditions
- Application defects including uneven coverage, missed sections, or improper finish
- Weather-related curing failures where conditions at the time of application — including temperature, humidity, cloud cover, or incoming moisture — were a factor within our control as the scheduling party. If we booked and completed your job in conditions that compromised the cure, that is on us — not you.
What's Not Covered
- —Pre-existing cracks, structural damage, or base failure that was present before the job was completed
- —Damage caused by oil, fuel, gasoline, chemical spills, or vehicle fluid leaks onto the sealed surface
- —Damage caused by heavy equipment, work trucks, trailers, RVs, or vehicles beyond standard passenger vehicle use disclosed at time of booking
- —Normal surface wear and gradual weathering consistent with the expected lifespan of a sealcoat application
- —Any failure resulting from the customer not following the posted cure time requirements below
Cure Time Requirements — Please Follow These
Sealcoat requires adequate time to fully cure and bond to your asphalt surface. Failing to observe these minimums voids your warranty coverage for any damage that results from early use. These are minimums under ideal conditions — see the note below.
| Use Type | Minimum Time Before Use |
|---|---|
| Walking / foot traffic | 6–8 hours |
| Driving through (no parking) | 24 hours |
| Parking passenger vehicles | 48 hours |
| Heavy trucks, equipment, or trailers | 72 hours |
Important: Cool temperatures, high humidity, shaded areas, overcast skies, or overnight moisture can all significantly extend the time your surface needs to fully cure. When in doubt, wait longer. If you are unsure whether your surface has fully cured, call us before driving or parking on it — we would rather answer a quick question than deal with a preventable issue.
How to Make a Claim
If you believe your job has an issue covered under warranty, here is exactly what to do:
- 1Contact us by phone at (431)-444-9600 or by email at info@prairiesurfaceco.ca within the one-year warranty period from your service date.
- 2Describe the issue and send us a photo if possible — this helps us assess the situation before coming out.
- 3We will respond within 24 hours and schedule a return visit to assess the surface in person.
- 4If the issue is confirmed as covered under warranty, we will return and fix it at no charge to you.
What We'll Do About It
Our warranty remedy depends on the nature and extent of the issue:
If a specific area of your sealed surface has failed under warranty — peeling, flaking, or delamination in one section — we return and reapply the affected area at no charge. You are not entitled to a full redo for a partial issue, and we will not upsell you on one. We fix what failed.
If the full surface has failed and we determine that conditions at the time of application — temperature, humidity, incoming weather — were a contributing factor that we should have accounted for when scheduling your job, we will return and redo the full surface at no charge. We booked it. We own it.
Most operators in Winnipeg offer no warranty at all. We offer this one because we are confident in our materials, our process, and our crew. If something goes wrong that is our fault, we make it right — simply and without argument. That is the Prairie Surface Co standard.
